Kohler Konnect Means Alexa Is Everywhere, Even the Bathroom

Bathrooms of the future are poised to get a lot smarter, thanks to Kohler.

The plumbing fixture brand on Fri introduced a new line of smart bathroom and kitchen products that can be controlled via an app and voice commands. The Kohler Konnect lineup includes a lighted bath mirror chosen Verdera, which has Amazon's digital assistant Alexa built in; a smart toilet that offers hands-free flushing; and a loftier-tech shower system that lets you gear up presets for sound, h2o, steam, and lighting.

"Voice services and connected devices have become integrated into every facet of the dwelling house – with the notable exception of the bathroom, until at present," Kohler President and CEO David Kohler said in a statement.

Designed to be the "centerpiece of the smart bathroom of the hereafter," the Verdera mirror features a born dual-microphone for phonation command, a move-activated nightlight, and LED lights for applying makeup. It plays nice with other Kohler Konnect products, letting yous control everything with your voice using commands like "Alexa, turn the lights to makeup mode," "Alexa, start my morning shower," "Alexa, turn on my toilet's foot warmer," or "Alexa, play my indie playlist."

In addition to Amazon Alexa, Kohler says that select products will offer support for Google Assistant.

Other Kohler Konnect products include a smart kitchen faucet that y'all can command with phonation commands, a tub kit that will draw a bathroom to your preferred depth and temperature, and a heated toilet seat with a built-in nightlight.

Kohler plans to show off this new product lineup at CES in Las Vegas next calendar week.
